Riya Garg of RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana secured 97.69% to top the state in Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 10 exams, which was declared on Monday morning. She got 635 out of 650 marks.
Meanwhile two students, including Mahima Nagpal of RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana and Ankush Mahajan of Bal Vidya Mandir High School, Nangal Kotli Mandi, Gurdaspur have bagged the second position by securing 97.23%. Both of them got 632 out of 650 marks.
The third position was shared by four students, including Jannatpreet Kaur of RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana; Gaganjot Kaur of SAV Jain Day Boarding Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur; Lokesh Mahajan of Vivekanand High School, Pathankot and Muskan Garg of Surajkund Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir, Sangrur. They got 96.92% by securing 630 out of 650 marks.
The total pass percentage this year is 72.25%, which is around 3% more than last year when 69.23% students passed the exams.
This year, the board has also decided to give away cash awards to toppers. Those securing first, second and third positions would get Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively
