Later in the period, Antoine Griezmann hit the woodwork with a header before the Real Madrid striker broke the deadlock.
Benzema played a big part in the second goal, shortly after half-time, as his strike came off the woodwork before Noel Valladares pushed it over the line—a goal confirmed by the goal-line technology system.
The big centre-forward did add his second when he smashed a shot into the roof of the net inside the final 20 minutes.
The game finished 3-0 and France now meet Switzerland on Friday after their 2-1 win over Ecuador earlier in the day.
