In a shocking revelation by a 23 year old woman to the Versova police station, Bollywood actor Inder Kumar has been accused of rape by a Mumbai woman. The actor was immediately detained by Versova police today.According to a popular daily, an FIR has been lodged against Inder. The actor has been booked under the charges of section 376 (Rape), 324 (Causing grievous hurt) and 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The case will move further only post the medical examination of the woman.

The lady, who is a struggler, claimed that Inder had convinced her that he would get her main lead roles and asked her to stay with him at his Versova flat in Andheri West. However, the actor stated that the victim had a tiff with his wife and that he holds no significance to her. Although this version of Inder Kumar seems a little sketchy considering the buzz that the actor is actually divorced. However, Inder Kumar's wife defends him after a woman accused him of rape.

Rape case: Actor Inder Kumar remanded in custody till April 30

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Inder Kumar Saraf, arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old model on pretext of getting roles in movies, was today produced before a court which remanded him in police custody for four days.
The 40-year-old actor was produced before a Bandra magisterial court that remanded him in police custody till April 30.

Saraf was arrested yesterday after the victim, who is his girlfriend, alleged that the actor had sexually assaulted her since Wednesday night at his suburban Andheri apartment before she escaped from his flat on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday after being held captive, police said.

The victim also claimed she had been thrashed and hit with a beer bottle by Saraf. She had burn wounds on her body indicating that the actor burnt her with his cigarettes, Versova police said.

The actor has worked in Bollywood movies 'Wanted', 'Maa Tujhhe Salaam', 'Baaghi', 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' and 'Masoom', among others.

During the interrogation, Saraf, however, claimed he had consensual sex with the woman, police said.



As per the complaint from the victim yesterday, the actor was booked under sections 376 (Punishment for Rape), 324 (causing grievous hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (2)(criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police said.

The actor has a troubled relationship with his wife due to which the couple are living separately in the same building.

According to police, the actor and his wife had heated arguments over several issues earlier following which she had been to police station also complaining against Saraf.

Three days after actor Inder Kumar was arrested on charges of rape and assault, his wife Pallavi on Monday spoke out in his defence, saying he was "innocent and was wrongly accused"

peaking at her Andheri residence, Pallavi claims that it was in fact the victim who came to Inder's house on April 23, as well as on the next day. The alleged rape and assault is supposed to have occurred the next day. The victim, in her complaint, has told the police that Inder had been sexually exploiting her promising her a role in Bollywood movies and that on April 23, he forced himself on her and also assaulted her brutally.

Pallavi further claimed that the girl had first approached Inder saying that she had been offered a role in a film and that she needed fitness guidance from him as she was unable to afford gym fees.

"The girl then started sending text messages to Inder saying that she loved him and wanted to meet him, and even sent a picture of what was supposed to be her slit wrist. Inder has been disturbed and was even feeling suicidal. He told her that she was ruining his life and even mentioned our daughter to her. All the people in our building will vouch for him," she claimed.

Senior inspector Harishchandra Parmale, Versova police station, said, "It was Pallavi who had first come to us to complain about Inder and his association with the girl. We will look into her claims."
