The Haryana Board of Secondary and Sr. Secondary Education was formed under Haryana Board School Education Act, 1969. They started working with a staff of 100 officials allocated from Punjab University, Chandigarh. The Board now conducts SSE, HSE and vocational examination. In 1994 Board established Haryana Open School to increase its reach. Board has adopted the semester system from session 2006-2007.
The main objective of council is to prescribe relevant syllabi and text books, fairly and timely conducting of examinations, evaluation and declaration of results and using information and communication technology in Boards working to provide better services to stakeholder.
Haryana Secondary School Examination is conducted twice in a year under semester system in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Board. HBSE / BSEH – Board of Secondary Education Haryana conducts HBSE Class 12th Exams every year in March. HBSE has conducted the HSE (Sr. Secondary School Examination) or the 12th class examination at various approved exam centers in the state of Haryana. Numerous students appeared in 12th class examinations at various approved exam centers in the state of Haryana.
HBSE HSE exam candidates have to obtain at least 33 per cent marks (marks in external examination + marks in CCE + marks in practical) provided that they obtain at least 33 per cent marks separately in the external examination and in practical examination, as to qualify the exam.
