Nokia LAUNCHED "NOKIA X2" AND introduced a Google Now style feature called “Fastlane”...

Nokia X2 Launches With LowPrice And Bigger Screen

After teasing us on its blog last week, Nokia (Microsoft ) has launched its Android-based X2 smartphone.

It has been just three months since Nokia launched a trio of budget Android devices at this year's Mobile World Congress, and the Finnish firm has decided to add to the range with an upgraded handset.

The X2 will cost €99 ($135, £80) and come with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 5MP camera, 4.3-inch display, dual-sim, and 15GB of inbuilt storage space. Nokia has stuck with the fluorescent design of the previous models, coming in green, orange, black, yellow and grey.

Although the X2 is running Android, the OS has been heavily modified to look more like a Windows Phone interface. Nokia has also included a home key, which wasn't present on any of its predecessors and came under some criticism after its omission confused some users.

Nokia has introduced a Google Now style feature called "Fastlane" that lets you view your calendar entries, most used apps or change music tracks. This is supposed to be the "personalised" area of your phone from which you can quickly launch applications, or get information.

As expected, Microsoft apps will come pre-loaded on to the phone including "some Xbox games", OneDrive cloud storage and Outlook. There's likely to be a lot more, but Nokia hasn't specified what other apps come with the phone.

Back at the Mobile World Congress in February this year, Nokia launched the X2's predecessor, the Nokia X, with far more humble specifications. The original device, which was priced at a similar €99, had a slightly smaller 4-inch display and a 1GHz dual-core processor.

Nokia says that X2 is available "immediately in select countries globally", although it's not clear which countries exactly.
