UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education declared the Class 10 results with 86.71 per cent pass percentage, clocking the best performance in a decade.

The Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education Friday declared the Class 10 results with 86.71 per cent pass percentage, clocking the best performance in a decade. Last year, the overall pass percentage was 86.63 per cent.

The pass percentage for girls, however, recorded a dip at 90.86 per cent against last year's 91.25 per cent. The total pass percentage for boys is 83.27 per cent, slightly better than last year's 82.87 per cent.

Director (Secondary Education), Shail Kumari Yadav, said the results were in keeping with their expectations.

Azamgarh district recorded best results scoring a pass percentage of 95.42 per cent while Hardoi was at the lower end with 64.82 per cent. Last year, Maharajganj was the best performer while Pilibhit was the worst.

State capital Lucknow slipped from 37th position last year to 42nd this year scoring 84.10 pass percentage. At least 19 districts scored more than 90 per cent pass percentage. At least 47 schools out of the total 20,944, recorded less than 20 per cent results.

This year, a total of 38.61 lakh students had registered for the Class 10 examinations out of which 33.33 lakh took the examinations, conducted between March 3 and March 21. A total of 11,397 centres were set up.

Like last year, the UP Board gave numbered answer sheets to students in at least 10 districts — Allahabad, Kaushambi, Hathras, Aligarh, Etah, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur and Deoria — to prevent use of unfair means

Phoenix native Tomas Tovar Rascon, or Tito Torbellino as the Mexican banda music singer billed himself, was shot to death Thursday in a restaurant in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, according to the Associated Press.

Police reported that two gunmen entered the restaurant and shot Rascon at close range.

He had been scheduled to perform Friday at Expo Obregon, sharing the bill with Reik and Maria Jose.

Rascon was in Phoenix last week to celebrate his birthday .

The singer posted a birthday photo with his family on Facebook, writing: "Thanks to God for another year of my life and for everything that he has given me. Thank you to my children, family, friends and my loyal fans everywhere. Thank you for all the presents and wishes. I didn't think I would get to this age. I promise to be calmer and less careless. Ha ha ha. On my way to Bakersfield to do what I like, singing for my public. The celebration is just starting."

In another Facebook post that day, he wrote, "Happy on my birthday. Even my son was with me. Thank you to everyone in Phoenix."

Tomás Eduardo Tovar Rascón, better known as Tito Torbellino, was in Obregón for an appearance on Friday when he was killed at a restaurant.

Tito was having lunch at a Chinese restaurant with two other people when he was attacked by his murderers. There were six armed men, who after closing the doors of the restaurant shot him at point-blank range and hit him in the head and chest. He was rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival, said ABC.es.

The incident happened at about 3:40 p.m.

Tito, whose age has been said to be between 27 and 32, was born in Phoenix to Mexican parents.

In 2002, he started Tito y su Torbellino. The band had a tuba, drums, bass, an accordion and other instruments common in banda music. He had more than a dozen albums, and his songs were based on his real-life experiences. When asked about how other artists had tragically died, he said that "all jobs have their risks" and how it was important to "be cautious of what you say and not get involved with risky situations."

He was going to be at tonight's Expo Obregón 2014. Both his parents were born in Obregón.

Tito was also working on becoming a film producer. He was already putting in motion the steps to start his first film "The Filly," which follows an immigrant boy who illegally enters the United States.

Mario Quintero, leader of Los Tucanes de Tijuana, described the news as "a bucket of cold water that leaves us very sad."

"It's something that's very surprising because he was someone we communicated with. Yesterday we tweeted with him," Quintero added.

He showed his musical ability at a young age. When he was in high school, he decided to drop out so that he could do music full time.

He was scheduled  to perform a concert tomorrow night  at the  Obregon Expo, his last concert was in Hermosillo, Sonora.  His parents were both born in Obregon. 

While in Phoenix last week he celebrated his 33rd birthday.  On his facebook he expressed happiness at being surround by his family "even my son".  [above]

State police in Sonora said Tomas Tovar Rascon was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and was shot several times at the restaurant in Ciudad Obregon.

His Facebook page said he was scheduled to perform at a concert in Ciudad Obregon on Friday. A U.S. booking agent listed for Torbellino confirmed his death.

Police said two gunmen entered the restaurant Thursday and shot Tovar Rascon at close range. He was taken to a local hospital but died on the way there.

Members of other musical groups have been murdered in Mexico in recent years, usually groups that perform "narcocorridos" that celebrate the exploits of drug traffickers.

But while some guns appear in Torbellino's music videos, his songs mainly focused on unrequited love, not drug gangs.

Experts say drug capos sometimes target musicians because of their ties to rival groups, or sentimental involvements.

In 2013, South Texas singer Jesus "Chuy" Quintanilla was found shot in the head near Mission, Texas. Quintanilla was well known for his ballads, including some about the exploits of Mexican drug cartels

Elijah Wald, author of the book, "Narcocorrido: A Journey into the Music of Drugs, Guns and Guerrillas," noted previous victims have included singers of a number of genres, not only narcocorridos. Getting entangled with the girlfriend of a criminal, for example, could be dangerous.

"In that world, it's probably more dangerous to be singing romantic songs than narcocorridos because it increases the chances that somebody's girlfriend will suddenly decide that you're the cutest thing ever," he said.

Wald said he didn't have any information on the motive in the Torbellino's killing, but noted that the singer appears only recently to have become successful.

"It's often just a matter of somebody sponsoring someone who isn't paying them back or isn't being properly respectful once they make it," Wald.

"You're in a world where's it's very, very easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or have the wrong friends or look sideway at the wrong girl. The list of things you can do wrong once you're in that world gets very large."

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Education Board had declared the 2013 secondary school certificate (SSC) result general stream in the month of June first week. Another significant aspect of Gujarat SSC result is the study material and the pattern of the examination paper. The Gujarat Board has decided to make the examination a level tougher.
