NEW DELHI: The crime branch has registered an FIR on the complaint of television journalist Amrita Rai, who alleged that her email was hacked into and her private pictures with Congress leader Digvijaya Singh leaked.
Singh, 67, had on Wednesday acknowledged he was in a relationship with the 43-year-old Rai soon after these pictures and videos went viral on internet.
The crime branch has registered a case under sections 66A of the information technology Act and 509 (outraging a woman's modesty) of IPC, a source said. Joint commissioner (crime) Ravindra Yadav confirmed to TOI that a probe had been initiated into the matter.
In her complaint, Rai said the perpetrator had hacked into her account and downloaded her mails. The content was then uploaded on social networking sites which had outraged her modesty and caused immense embarrassment, a source said.
