Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians after Mumbai managed to scrape through to the Playoffs against Rajasthan Royals after leveling the required runs and then hitting a 6 off the last ball to make the fourth spot.

After the UAE leg of IPL 2014 Mumbai had lost all 5 matches and the defending champions looked like they would end last on the points table but when IPL 2014 returned to India May 2nd 2014, Mumbai Indiansstarted to play a bit like the fans expected them to and started winning matches. With their last match against Rajasthan Royals going down to the last ball winning the match with a better net run rate over Rajathan Royals. MI has made it to the Playoffs and now faces CSK in a bid to go on to the final and defend their title.

Mumbai Indians will be depending on their pumped up batting line up with Michael Hussey, Rohit Sharma, Corey Anderson, Lendl Simmons and the others to get the victory. The bowling attack of Mumbai Indianshas not been as attacking as it was when Lasith Malinga was leading the attack, who is now representing Sri Lanka against England. Zaheer Khan is out because of an ankle injury but Praveen Kumar replaces him and along with Harbhajan Singh and Shreyas Gopal, they stand a decent chance of trying to intimidate theChennai batting line-up which is in attacking form.

Chennai Super Kings has had a run of bad luck in their previous couple of matches before won against Royal Challengers Bangalore to put an end to their losing streak. Chennai Super Kings have defeated Mumbai Indians in both the league matches and they will aim at making it a hat-trick with this crucial match for a shot at the title.

Chennai Super Kings will also depend their batting line-up with the likes of Dwayne Smith, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni and Brendon McCullum to make the mincemeat out of the Mumbai Indians bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack. CSK needs 3 runs to win from 10 balls. Suresh Raina is on strike and Jasprit Bumrah bowls a wide giving CSK an extra run. Suresh Raina slams a 4 and gets CSK through the Eliminator.

Kieron Pollard comes into the attack. Kieron Pollard misfields an Sures Raina gets a single to get his 50.

OVER 17: Chennai 160/3

Jasprit Bumrah comes back into the attack. An inside edge and the ball races away for a 4. Chennai SUper Kings need 16 runs from 21 balls at this stage. Another good ball but smashed away by Suresh Raina but the ball goes to the fielder giving Suresh Raina a single.

OVER 16: Chennai 152/3

Pragyan Ojha comes into the attack. David Hussey takes the attack to Pragyan Ojha as he smashed the delivery away for a 6. David Hussey goes into higher gear and gets another 6 to ease the required run rate for CSK. A square flick and another single picked up by David Hussey. Suresh Raina joins the party as he smashes a 6 off the las ball.

Praveen Kumar comes into the attack for his last over of the match. Sloppy fielding at third man lets Suresh Raina and David Hussey take a couple of runs instead of the single and they do the same thing all over again.  CSK needs 51 runs to win from 33 balls at this stage in the match. A flick off the pads gets Suresh Raina another couple of runs as he moves on to 35 runs from 22 balls. The tight over gets ruined by a 6 off of the last ball.

Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack and gets smashed away for a 4 by David Hussey. Jasprit Bumrah comes back with a better delivery starving David Hussey of the space to free his arms and play a defensive shot. A well bowled bouncer to beat Suresh Raina as he lets the faster ball go to the keeper. Suresh Raina waits for the ball to come to him and smashes the ball for a 4.

OVER 13: Chennai 109/3

Harbhajan Singh comes in to the attack for his final over of the match. A slight edge from Suresh Raina's bat gets him a single to rotate the strike but they need to get into higher gear as the required run rate keeps crawling up. The umpire signal for a strategic time out.

Pragyan Ojha comes into the attack. The single brings up the 100 runs for Chennai Super Kings. A good shot stopped brilliantly by Ben Dunk to stop a 4. David Hussey tries to hit the ball hard but gets an inside edge that makes the ball bounce hard right in front of the stumps.

Harbhajan Singh comes back into the attack.  Chennai Super Kings will be a bit nervous at this stage but Suresh Raina is able to soothe the furrowed brows with a couple of runs. An inside out shot by Sursh Raina and the ball sails away for a 6. An excellent ball beats Suresh Raina to end the over with a dot ball.

OVER 10: Chennai 89/3

Pragyan Ojha comes into the attack. Suresh Raina gets into position to smack Pragyan Ojha's delivery away but doesn't connect well and gets a single. Brendon McCullum charges Ojha and the ball lands in Ben Dunk's hands on the ropes but he loses control and the ball drops over the rope for a 6. Pragyan Ojha delivers a tossed delivery luring Brendon McCullum out of the crease and he gets stumped. David Hussey comes in to replace Brendon McCullum.

Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack and the ball bounces off of Brendon McCullum's forearm but the appeals for a catch are refused by the umpire. Brendon McCullum gets a big hit that sails away for a 6. Chennai Super Kings need 96 runs from 68 balls at this stage to win the match.

OVER 8: Chennai 72/2

Corey Anderson comes back into the attack. A short ball from Corey Anderson and it smashes right into Brendon McCullum's helmet breaking the grill. A new grill is in place for McCullum's helmet and play resumes. Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina need to stabilize the innings with a good partnership. A loose delivery gets smacked away for a 4.

OVER 7: Chennai 64/2

Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack to get a breakthrough. Dwayne Smith swings hard and Kieron Pollard waits for the ball to get to him and catches the ball without effort. Dwayne Smith dismissed after scoring 20 runs from 20 balls. Suresh Raina comes out to replace Dwayne Smith. Harbhajan bowls a wide with the delivery that turns sharply away from the leg stump. Faf du Plessis departs pretty much the same way that Dwayne Smith went by smacking the ball right to Ben Dunk. Faf de Plessis has to depart after scoring 35 runs. Brendon McCullum comes out to replace Faf du Plessis.

Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack and the second ball gets a thick edge which runs away for a 4 after a dot ball for the first delivery. The second ball is well connected by Dwayne Smith as it races away for a 4. Another good shot by Dwayne Smith off the back foot that goes all the way for a 4. Faf du Plessis ends the over with a cracking shot for 4. The umpire calls for a strategic time out.

Praveen Kumar comes into the attack. A good over so far with good swinging delivery variations from Praveen Kumar. Praveen Kumar is bowling a very tight line of deliveries with only singles being allowed to be scored by the Chennai Super Kings batsmen.

Corey Anderson comes back into the attack to get a breakthrough. Faf du Plessis flicks the ball and it manages to beat the fielder as Rohit Sharma dives to get the catch but he doesn't get there and the ball goes for a 4. Faf du Plessis gets a huge top edge but the ball is not caught due to a confusion between Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu. Faf du Plessis is living dangerously but he takes the lifeline and gets a 6 off of the 5th ball. Dwayne Smith ends the over with a powerful shot that goes for a 4.

Praveen Kumar comes into the attack. A good line being bowled by Praveen Kumar to Dwayne Smith. An exceptionally good ball from Praveen Kumar called for an LBW but the umpire decides not to give the decision. A full toss ball flicked away but Corey Anderson does well to stop the ball going for a 4 and restricts the scoring to a single A good over by Praveen Kumar.

Corey Anderson comes into the attack and gets slammed for a 4 right from the first ball. Rohit Sharma tries to dive and field the ball but misses it and hurts himself on the shoulder. A short ball from Corey Anderson and the ball sails away one bounce for a 4.

Dwayne Smith and Faf du Plessis come out to open the batting for Chennai Super Kings while Praveen Kumar opens the bowling for Mumbai Indians. Dwayne Smith gets the ball away for a 4 to start off the big hitting for CSK.

Mohit Sharma comes out to bowl the final over. Ambati Rayudu dismissed for 2 runs off of 3 balls. The replay shows that there might be an over stepping no ball but it is being checked. The ball is legitimate and Ambati Rayudu has to walk back to the dug out as Harbhajan Singh replaces him in the middle. A good slower ball from Mohit Sharma is just punched away by Harbhajan Singh for a single. Praveen Kumar gets clean bowled ball by Mohit Sharma to dismiss Praveen Kumar for 1 run off of 2 balls. Praveen Kumar is replaced by Pragyan Ojha in the middle. A good ball gets guided to third man for a single. Harbhajan Singh picks up the slower ball and slams it for a 6 to end the innings on a high note for Mumbai Indians.

Ashish Nehra comes into the attack and gets slammed away for a 6 by Kieron Pollard. A good ball by Ashish nehra to send an intimidating message back to Kieron Pollard. Kieron Pollard picks the bad length ball and smacks it away for a 4. A full toss to Kieron Pollard and he flicks it high but the fielder gets under it and Ashish Nehra wins the bludgeon match by dismissing Kieron Pollard for 14 runs off of 8 balls. Aditya Tare, the last ball star of the previous Mumbai Indians match steps out to bat, and replace Kieron Pollard. A top edge off of Aditya Tare's bat and gets taken by Faf du Plessis.

Mohit Sharma comes back into the attack for an attempt to break the Mumbai Indians batting line-up. Kieron Pollard pulls the ball but gets a single to bring Rohit Sharma on strike. Rohit Sharma goes down the wicket and get another one bounce 4 at extra cover. Rohit Sharma gets a top edge and the ball goes high but Brenmdon McCullum gets under it and takes the catch. Rohit Sharma departs after scoring 20 runs from 16 balls. A brutal pull shot from Kieron Pollard finds the fielder and gets Pollard a single. Ambati Rayudu comes out to replace the Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma. A slower ball to keep the scoring down to a dot in the last ball of the over.

Ravinder jadeja comes back into the attack to finish another quick over and try to get a breakthrough. Lendl Simmons and Rohit Sharma are building another good partnership. Ravinder Jadeja gets the much needed breakthrough n the form of Lendl Simmons. Lendl Simmons departs after scoring 67 runs and he will be replaced by Kieron Pollard. A good ball to end the over.

Ashish Nehra comes back into the attack to try and get a breakthrough. A super shot from Rohit Sharma as the ball races away for a one bounce 4. A big shot from Lendl Simmons to get a 6 and end the over. The umpire signals for a strategic time out.

Rohit Sharma comes out to replace Corey Anderson and the batsmen tried taking a run putting Lendl Simmons on strike. Simmons goes big and gets a massive 6.

Suresh Raina comes into the attack. A tight line being bowled by Suresh Raina here to restrict the scoring but Corey Anderson goes big and gets a 6. A 4 from Corey Anderson to set the crowd cheering on.

R Ashwin comes into the attack. An excellent over by R Ashwin with just 3 runs scored so far. A single to finish the over.

Ravinder Jadeja comes into the attack. Michael Hussey swings and gets bowled. Ravinder Jadeja gets the first breakthrough. Corey Anderson comes out to the middle to replace Michael Hussey. Corey Anderson begins the hitting reminiscent of the last match where he scored 95 runs.

R Ashwin comes back into the attack. Michael Hussey goes big and the ball sails over the fielders to go for a 6. A single to bring Simmons on strike and R Aswin bowls a good delivery right on his pads.
